National Intelligence Estimate on Iran
This article comes from, of all places, the Huffington Post. Alan Dershowitz, middle east expert and faculty at Harvard Law School, offers some decent perspective on the new report about Iran's nuclear capabilities:
The recent national intelligence estimate that concluded that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003 is just about the stupidest intelligence assessment I have ever read. It falls hook, line and sinker for a transparent bait and switch tactic employed not only by Iran, but by several other nuclear powers in the past. The tactic is obvious and well-known to all intelligence officials with an IQ above room temperature. It goes like this: There are two tracks to making nuclear weapons: One is to conduct research and develop technology directly related to military use. That is what the United States did when it developed the atomic bomb during the Manhattan Project. The second track is to develop nuclear technology for civilian use and then to use the civilian technology for military purposes...

Health Care: Conservative Solutions Work
This article was published in the Daily Universe, Monday, December 3, by Seth Ensign, our College Republican official spokesman:
Year after year the system is decried as unacceptable. Experts struggle to understand its intricacies, laymen suffer under its implications, and all but a chosen few voice opinionated outrage over its perceived injustices. And as bad as the BCS bowl methodology is, I'm actually talking about health care.
Patently, the stakes surrounding it are unspeakably higher than the consequences of who plays for roses on New Year's Day; unfortunately, the confusion surrounding it is worse. Voices across the political spectrum-from "Sicko" to Hannity-flood Americans with information and potential answers. Truth is ultimately found in the moderate middle ground, a part of which is the undeniable fact that the current system has serious flaws.
A common query from the political left is how the nation will pay for its rapidly increasing health care costs. A more appropriate starting point is an inquiry into why the costs are so astronomical to begin with...

Mitt Romney Provo campaign office opening
It's a remarkable thing that a frontrunner for the Republican nomination is opening an office in little-old Provo (they typically only open in big cities in key swing states), but Mitt Romney is doing just that. For those of you who are his supporters, you might be interested in the details:
"The office is located at 746 E. 820 N. just south of the BYU campus (right by J-Dawgs and Thai Ruby). The office is open from 10am to 8pm on weekdays and from 10-3 on Saturdays.
"Every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7:00, there will be a standing orientation meeting to help volunteers better understand the primary process, and why the Provo office is so important. Tonight (Thursday, November 29), this evening at 6:00 will be the grand opening of the call center featuring a Webcast with an update on the campaign, an explanation of the call center, and a chance to hear from the Mitt Romney and his family. All are welcome.
"This is the chance you have been looking for…your chance to dedicate a couple of hours a week to an incredible cause…your chance to help Mitt Romney become the next President of the United States.
"Mitt needs your help! Please reply to eeyre@mittromney.com and let me know when you are able to come in, or that you are willing to gather some friends and come to the Tuesday or Thursday orientation meetings."
As always, the BYU College Republicans organization does not endorse any Republican candidate over another. We are happy, though, to spread the word on campaign opportunities for the various primary campaigns currently underway.
Hillary Falls Behind
The Clinton machine isn't so unstoppable after all. Hillary generally trailed in the polls behind our Republican candidates until about June of this year. Unfortunately for her, though, her "surge" is drying up. The latest poll from, of all places, left-leaning Zogby show she's slipped behind all five Republican front-runners.

Money can't buy Ms. Clinton everything, apparently. Feel free to cackle, fellow Republicans.
